A commitment to joy 

Linden House celebrates the joy of a certain kind of comedy – the comedy of wit, language and ideas. “We like intelligent comedy,” says founder, Janet Uren. Established in 2007 by a community actor who wanted to see more comic classics on Ottawa stages, Linden House chooses plays by the best writers of dramatic comedy including playwrights such as Coward, Maugham and Shaw. These plays are typically both merry and thoughtful. As Coward said, in responding to a criticism that his plays were “trivial”: “What, I ask you, he said, “is trivial about merriment?”
